史泰朗夫人的彩蛋藝術

Decoupage是一門運用多元技巧，利用美麗的彩色圖案，經過巧手剪貼、拼黏，塗上亮光漆或貼上金箔等的裝飾藝術。最常見運用在小裝飾盒或傢俱裝飾應用上。剪紙裝飾藝術需運用相當專業技巧，時而一件作品的製作過程需花上一年以上時間，因為其中牽涉到無數次的塗漆或拋光等複雜流程。
Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by transferring images onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf, etc. Commonly an object like a small box or an item of furniture is decorated in this manner. Many advanced techniques are used, and items could take up to a year to complete due to the many coats of varnishes and sandings applied.
史泰朗夫人於南非習得此項藝術創作技巧，她運用鴕鳥蛋殼作為她的創作題材。由於鴕鳥蛋殼的特性，所以，必須特別細心處理如此易碎的材質。如此高品質的亮擇度乃因為史泰朗夫人來來回回替作品上了超過三十層的亮光漆而產生的，而且，每一件作品也都必須經過反覆地以細緻沙紙進行拋光的動作。作品中部份傳統的圖像乃取自於南非當地的剪紙裝飾藝術，史泰朗夫人也同時將印度宗教等題材納入創作主題，例如：rajasthani女神畫像以及印度手工藝。要創造出持久藝術之美，除了要小心翼翼把美麗的圖像轉移到如此易碎的駝鳥蛋殼上之外，還必須要有高超技術與具備相當程度的耐心才行。
Deepa Seetharam learned the art of decoupage in South Africa, where it is used to decorate ostrich egg shells. Special care has to be taken when working with fragile egg shells. The high quality gloss has been achieved by applying over 30 layers of varnish, each of which is hand polished with fine sand paper. While traditionally animal pictures are used in South African decoupage, Deepa has also adapted it to Indian themes of gods, goddesses rajasthani miniature painting styles and Indian handicarfts. The beauty of the pictures are transferred onto the fragile surface of the eggshell with great skill and patience to create an object of lasting beauty.
